The Jissen Gata Kendo Bogu in 3 mm quality is a competition armour with a weight of only 2.3kg without Do (complete 4.5kg). It is excellent for Uchikomi-geiko, Jigeiko and Shiai, but I wouldn't wear it permanently as a dummy for beginners. But it's not made for that either. My conclusion: Worth wearing!
