Because the practice of any martial art carries an inherent risk of injury, safety in the dojo is a primary concern of school administrators, instructors and students alike. Every participant in a dojo bears a large amount of the responsibility in accident prevention.
It is well beyond the scope of the Training Tips to provide complete emergency and medical advice, but from time to time we will offer related information that we hope will prove useful to schools and their members.
Below are examples of two forms, which might be found in a dojo. The first form addresses issues surrounding blood- and body fluid-borne pathogens, such as hepatitis and HIV. It is designed to inform and educate dojo members. The second is a sample form to document the occurrence of an accident.
Note: It is our intention to provide this as an information resource only, it in no way should be used by any individual or dojo without first seeking the advice of a medical professional and a lawyer.
