Masakatsu, or True Victory, is individually brushed by Hiroshi Ikeda. Each calligraphy piece is an original, no two are exactly alike and each bears Ikeda sensei's signature.

The surface onto which the sumi ink is applied has bearing on the final appearance and feel of the work. In general, sumi on untreated and stretched canvas will have a textured feel, whereas sumi on the canvas panel and Bristol board will appear sharp and precise.
